Yahoo is a funny kind of site, people either love it and sweat by all of it's services or they can't stand it and don't know why people use it. Personally, I fall somewhere in the middle. Some of Yahoo's services are really outdated and behind in the times, others work perfectly and have a huge community behind it. Yahoo dating is one of the services I really like. Okay, so I already mentioned that there are things I don't always like about Yahoo, but the personal dating service is not one of them. It's services and features like this that keep it competing with Google. It has a very easy to use interface and adding a profile is free, it only costs money if you want to contact someone. That is good news for the girls, not so good news for the guys :) Things we like about Yahoo online dating: - Huge userbase - There is nothing worse than going through the hassle of signing up and creating a profile and taking a site seriously only to find that the same 5 people have been listed in your area forever and no one knew ever signs up. The advantage of Yahoo is it's massive userbase that will keep the potential matches changing on a regular basis.
- Privacy - It's easy to use the personal ad service in conjunction with a free Yahoo email address to protect your privacy and keep things anonymous until you decide to give the other person more details.
- New and Improved Search - Having so many people to browse through can be a bit daunting but they have an excellent search function that will allow you to find just the people you are looking to meet.
- 7 Day Free Membership - It is free to post a profile but if you want to contact potential matches yourself, you need to pay money. Thankfully, they do give you a 7 day that you can use to try the full service including contacting other members.
- Active or Not - One of the problems with any dating site that makes it easy to sign up and post a profile is that people will post and leave. You will waste time contacting someone you find to be interesting only to realize that they don't actually check the site anymore. Yahoo makes it easy to avoid that by telling you if the person has been active recently or not.
All in all, Yahoo Personals is one of the best online dating services we have used. It's not the service that led me to my wife, but I did meet a few girls on Yahoo and dated one for a months.
